Local anesthesia is used in the surgery as standard. You will not feel any pain during the operation as your eye is anaesthetized, perhaps you will feel light touch in you eye. Operation lasts for 5-10 minutes depending on the type of cataract. You should not move your head or eye within this time. Your pulse and pressure indicators are monitored during phaco surgery as standard. You can communicate with your physician at any time.
